About the breed

The Minuet (also known as Napoleon) is a charming hybrid breed combining the elegance of the Persian and the playfulness of the Munchkin. It began when short-legged cats from a breeding line with a dominant dwarfism gene were crossed with Persians to produce the signature doll-faced look, sweet expression, and compact, low-slung body. Recognized by TICA, the breed includes both short-legged Minuets and the proportioned “Tall” version, but all display the same round head, sweet eyes, and semi-cobby structure.

What makes the Minuet/Napoleon especially beloved is its affectionate, people-oriented nature. Though gentle like the Persian, it also has bursts of curiosity and energy reminiscent of the Munchkin. These cats thrive in a home where they receive love, enjoy interactive play, and are raised using ethical breeder guidelines—delivered typically at 16-20 weeks to ensure good socialization and confidence. Registration with TICA, full health checks, and responsible breeding practices are standard

Where are you located?

We are located near Minneapolis/St. Paul MN.

When can I expect my kitten?

While everyone is anxious to meet their new fur baby, we follow the TICA Ethical Breeder Guidelines and best practices research and typically deliver kittens at 16-20 weeks (they are still very small at that age). This ensures that you have an adjusted, confident, social, and exceptional baby. Families are always surprised at how small their kitten is and how ready they are to bond. Kittens form extremely strong bonds with humans after 12-14 weeks, and placing a kitten in a home prior can cause anxiety, aggression, and shyness, and cats can exhibit other behavioral problems.

Are minuets the same as munchkins?

The TICA (The International Cat Association) recognizes the breed of minuets, often known as Napoleons. They are descended from a Munchkin and Persian hybrid. This combines the grace, beauty, and elegance of the Persian with the humorous, sweet, and playful Munchkin personality! Minuets are quite little and have short, skinny legs. Minuet Talls have regular-length legs but are typically smaller than the average house cat.

Will my kitten be registered?

We register all of our cats with TICA. If you are purchasing any kitten, please take the time to make sure it is registered! Any great breeder should always be part of the TICA or CFA registry.

Do you ship kittens across the US/overseas?

We offer in-person transport (to major airports), pet courier referrals, and many families fly into St. Paul to get their new baby. With costs very comparable to cargo shipping, it just makes more sense and is the only way to guarantee your baby's safe arrival. In addition, if you are getting two kittens from us, they fly for the cost of one! (We no longer cargo ship.  After investing the time, patience and money for a new addition to your home, we will never risk their health by cargo shipping.)

I can't afford the price of a kitten...but I really love this breed! Do you have something for my budget?

Juveniles & Adults—We often have kitties that are about a year old that were held back to evaluate for breeding or retired queens/kings.If you are wanting a minuet but have to be very budget conscious, these sweeties could be a great option! Please let me know if this is something you'd be interested in, and I'll put you on my inquiry list for my juveniles and adults. Contact me at greatmewscattery@gmail.com or message me on Facebook!
