Napoleon  Kittens

Specializing exclusively in Minuet/Napoleon breed since 2013, our cattery cherishes the endearing doll-like face and low-slung body that characterize these captivating felines. Combining the charm of the older doll-faced Persian look with the delightful short legs reminiscent of the Dachshund breed, our Napoleon/Minuet kittens are sure to capture your heart and bring a smile to your face. Available in all the colors of the rainbow and boasting both long and short hair varieties, our kittens encompass the essence of charm and variety. While the conventional Minuet features small legs, we also offer kittens with normal leg lengths that share the same adorable appearance. At our cattery, we specialize in nurturing the beauty of long-haired coats, ensuring each kitten embodies the utmost elegance and grace.

origin of the Minuet / napoleon

The Persian, which has been a part of the cat craze since its inception in the late 19th century, and the current Napoleon/Minuet share a common background. Sandra Hockendal rescued a pregnant cat with short legs - which some of her kittens had too - and Sandra's Louisiana plantation became the base of a population of short-legged cats that results from a dominant dwarfism gene. TICA recognized the Munchkin for registration status in 1994 and for Championship status, after years of careful monitoring for health, in May 2003.

charming Personalities

The Napoleon/Minuet is a gentle, extremely affectionate and people-oriented cat. They have the gentleness of a Persian and the energy and curiosity of the Munchkin. Their big eyes in their sweet faces give them a look of complete innocence while their inquisitiveness gets them into all kinds of mischief. While they are kind, they are also independent in their pursuits and, like Munchkins, can race through the turns of their designated racetrack for the day at breakneck speed.

FAQs

  • Who is Great Mews Cattery?

Great Mews Cattery specializes in Minuet/Napoleon kitten breeding. We have a track history and reputation for providing only the healthiest Napoleon kittens to you and your family. We are based in Webster, Wisconsin, but we have Napoleon kittens across the country!

The Napoleon kitten breed is renowned for its adorable, doll-like appearance, and playful personality. If you are interested in meeting one of our available Napoleon kittens, please get in contact with us via phone at 715-790-7039.

  • Where are you located?

We are located near Minneapolis/St. Paul MN.

  • Is the Minuet the same as a Munchkin?

The TICA (The International Cat Association) recognizes the breed of minuets, often known as Napoleons. They are descended from a Munchkin and Persian hybrid. This combines the grace, beauty, and elegance of the Persian with the humorous, sweet, and playful Munchkin personality! Standard kittens are quite little and have short, skinny legs.  Non-standards have regular-length legs but are typically smaller than the average house cat.

  • How much are your kittens?

Please Text or Call For Pricing Information

  • Do you ship kittens across the US/overseas?

We offer in-person transport (to major airports), pet courier referrals and many families fly into St, Paul to get their new baby.  With costs very comparable to cargo shipping, it just makes more sense and is the only way to guarantee your baby's safe arrival.  In addition, if you are getting two kittens from us they fly for the cost of one! (We no longer cargo ship.  After investing the time, patience and money for a new addition to your home, we will never risk their health by cargo shipping.)

  • When can I expect to get my kitten?

While everyone is anxious to meet their new fur-baby, we follow the TICA Ethical Breeder Guidelines and best practices research and typically deliver kittens at  16-20 weeks (they are still very small at that age).  This ensures that you have an adjusted, confident, social and exceptional baby.  Families are always surprised at how small their kitten is and how ready to the bond they are.  Kittens form extremely strong bonds with humans after 12-14 weeks and placing a kitten in a home prior can cause anxiety, aggression, and shyness and cats can exhibit other behavioral problems.

  • I can't afford the price of a kitten...but I really love this breed! Do you have something for my budget?

Juveniles & Adults - we often have kitties that are about a year old that were held back to evaluate for breeding or retired Queens/Kings.  If you are wanting a Minuet but have to be very budget conscious, these sweeties could be a great option!  Please let me know if this is something you'd be interested in and I'll put you on my inquiry list for my Juveniles and Adults.  Contact me at greatmewscattery@gmail.com or FB message me!

  • Will my kitten be registered?

We register all of our cats with TICA.  If you are purchasing any kitten, please take the time to make sure it is registered! Any great breeder should always be part of the TICA or CFA registry.
